Newborn Giant Panda

While at the panda breeding center we got very lucky and came only 5 hours after a panda gave birth around 5:00 in the morning! Even luckier, the mother gave birth to twins, giving us the chance to see one of them. When a giant panda gives birth to two pandas, she chooses the stronger one and abandons the weaker, leaving it to the staff at the breeding center to take care of the other. We were allowed to see the newborn in its incubator and take photos, but it was difficult to get a good picture because we could only see its head at the time. Look closely and you can see its little pink head drinking from the bottle!
