We were invited to a BBQ party last night by a local college that has a summer camp for kids learning English. We walked about 15 minutes to the edge of town where they had tables of food and grills prepared. Everyone would put their meat or veggies on skewers and then brush with oil, soy sauce, cumin, or ground red pepper before grilling. Food for grilling included bacon, tofu dogs, lettuce, garlic shoots, tomatoes, and corn. The grilled bacon was excellent. They also had slices of white bread and watermelon.
Much to our surprise, some of the younger kids were allowed to drink beer, we were told their parents said they should drink beer at the BBQ party. We posed for lots of pictures with the kids, maybe the camp promised a BBQ party with native English speakers, so this was the evidence.
