Interesting things you learn through the interpreter

A conversation during our ride to the registration office this morning...

We asked how she got back and forth from school to the orphanage on the weekends.  She said a special bus from the orphanage would drive to different schools and pick up the kids.   It was a bit longer than our van.   But some days, they rode in the ambulance.    Hmmmmmm.  HanRui and the driver seemed to get in an argument about the truth of that one. Our guide said she has heard this from other kids as well.

Also in the conversation,  she told Maggie she has a biological (used that word apparently) mother and father and grandparents and younger brother somewhere.   Hmmmmmm.  Did she ever stay with a foster family?  Wishful thinking?  I am not so sure why it is so hard to get clear info here. 

And noted in our paperwork from the social worker.   Rui means "vigor" as they hoped she would grow up to have vigor and energy in life.   This is different from the last time we asked and they said Rui means "sharp,  alert". 

As always in China, depends on who you ask!
